Zheng Wencan's son-in-law and Taoyuan City Councilor, Zhang Zhaoliang, suspected of being involved in an illegal construction mediation case, was detained and denied visitors by the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office. Allegations arose from a bribery case involving Zheng Wencan, former Chairman of the Mainland Affairs Council, where both individuals are now under investigation. Zhang Zhaoliang is suspected of bribery and falsifying documents related to an unauthorized construction, which was reported to the authorities by concerned citizens. After overnight questioning, the court granted permission to detain Zhang Zhaoliang, along with other defendants, while issuing high bails for some and releasing others. The case unfolded following complaints about unauthorized construction work leading to the construction of a well-known retail chain store in Longtan, Taoyuan. Investigations involved searches and interrogations, ultimately resulting in the detention of Zhang Zhaoliang and others.
