23-year-old infielder Chen Sheng-ping playing for the MLB's Arizona Diamondbacks' Double-A team has been released and confirmed to return to Taiwan for the CPBL mid-season draft, despite his agency initially denying rumors. Chen, who made his US debut in 2021, signed in 2019 for $300,000, and despite his struggles with stats, he will now compete in the CPBL draft. His return will impact team strategies, as other overseas players like Wu Nien-ting and Chang Yi have also declared intentions to join, including Chang Yu-cheng of the Tampa Bay Rays' Triple-A team.
