Despite exceeding expectations with 3.0% annual inflation in the January Consumer Price Index (CPI) and a 0.4% month-over-month increase in the Producer Price Index (PPI), Fed Chair Powell's disinflation narrative remains intact, according to Inflation Insights president Omair Sharif. He notes that these figures suggest the core Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index will stabilize around 0.25%, indicating progress toward the Federal Reserve's 2% inflation target.
