Reported about 1 year ago
On June 15, 2024, at 7:10 a.m., a large number of police forces raided an office of a racing pigeon association in Jiali District, Tainan City, meticulously examining each piece of information. Tainan authorities had previously uncovered suspicions of gambling in another racing pigeon association in Madou District, involving methods like virtual pigeons, dummy pigeon coops, or oversized pigeons competing to fraudulently claim substantial prizes. Similar suspicions arose with the Jiali District association, leading to the recent arrest of 7 members including the president surnamed Huang. Nearly 10 accounts with approximately 110 million NT dollars in gambling funds were seized on-site. The authorities discovered that out of 1349 pigeons competing in the recent spring race, only 15 completed the race, with a return rate of 1.11%. The case has been transferred to Tainan District Prosecutor's Office for investigation for suspected gambling and violations of animal protection laws.
