In 2024, home sales in the U.S. dropped to a level not seen since 1995, with only 4.06 million previously-owned homes sold as high mortgage rates and property prices discouraged buyers. Despite a slight uptick in sales towards the end of the year and record-high median home prices, the market faces significant challenges with rising borrowing costs and elongated selling times projected to continue into 2025.
