In the upcoming 2026 New Taipei City mayoral election, there is concern over the possible participation of Huang Kuo-chang from the People's Party. However, recent polls indicate that he is lagging behind while candidates like Lee Si-chuan and Su Tseng-chang garner more support. Former aide of Ko Wen-je, Wu Jing-yi, critiques Huang's campaign strategy and popularity, citing factors like the limitation of online audience, the inability to distinguish true supporters from online traffic, biases in media coverage, and the lack of actual political influence. Wu ominously remarks that although Huang may have appeal, it may not be universally palatable or sustainable.
