One of Taiwan's leading food and beverage conglomerates, JieLi International Food and Beverage Group, suddenly announced the closure of 8 brands including Pepper Lunch and MAiSEN, leaving 500 employees without jobs. The group faced legal action from employees and was ordered by the court to compensate each staff member varying amounts. The closure stemmed from financial difficulties following the control of 22 billion NT dollars in illegal funding by the parent company, the Wu Hu Group. Employees, some even informed of the closure in the middle of their shifts, took legal action demanding owed salaries and compensations.
