AI smartphones are set to be launched by Apple on June 16, 2024, leading to a global surge in AI demand and subsequently driving the need for high-speed networks, fueling the robust development of 5G. Networking manufacturers are actively embracing the AI server market opportunities, with Wistron (2345) shareholders' meeting projecting optimistic outlooks, resulting in a 2.39% price increase on the 14th, marking three consecutive rises. The arsenide gallium epi-wafer giant, Unimicron (2455), also saw a recent surge, foreseeing significant growth in demand for its microelectronics and optoelectronics products this year. Wistron held a shareholders' meeting on the 13th, where it was highlighted that the company's ASIC servers and switches have continued to grow, supporting the second-half performance, expecting double-digit revenue growth for the year. Benefiting from the smoother supply of semiconductor components and increased shipment momentum for AI accelerator cards, Wistron's May revenue significantly rebounded to a historical high of NT$8.777 billion, a 25.08% monthly increase and a 35.59% annual increase, surpassing the NT$8 billion mark for the first time since 2023. Analysts are optimistic that its second-quarter revenue is expected to increase by 25% to 30% quarterly and forecasted that profit growth potential will outperform revenue performance in the future. Unimicron reported May revenue of NT$292 million, a 1.8% monthly increase and a 32.31% annual increase, reaching a new high for the same period. With entry into the data center supply chain for optoelectronics driven by AI demand, its revenue is expected to nearly triple this year. In addition, with the addition of a new international major customer for microelectronics, along with the revival of demand for smartphones, the emergence of AI and WiFi 7 smartphones in the second half of the year, analysts predict that revenue for both optoelectronics and microelectronics products this year have the opportunity to achieve double-digit growth.
