On June 17, 2024, at 11:06 PM, the Supreme Court upheld the verdict of the case where a coffee shop owner, surnamed Ho, was executed in an execution-style shooting in New Taipei City in November 2021. The behind-the-scenes reason involved suspicion of leaking drug manufacturing secrets, leading to a chain of events orchestrated by a Taiwan-based gang member nicknamed 'Ah Du' and culminated in the shooting. Despite the prosecution seeking the death penalty for the mastermind and the gunman, the court sentenced them both to life imprisonment and deprivation of civil rights for life after ruling the crime did not meet the gravest criteria. The mastermind, already abroad, is still wanted by the prosecution.
