According to the Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics, in April, 68% of employees in Taiwan work in workplaces where the average monthly salary is less than 50,000 NT dollars. The statistics indicated that those earning less than 30,000 NT dollars per month accounted for 16.2% of employees, while those earning between 30,000 and 40,000 NT dollars made up 31.4%, and those earning between 40,000 and 50,000 NT dollars were 20.5%. It was clarified that the 68% figure did not mean that 68% of employees earn less than 50,000 NT dollars per month. These statistics will now be released monthly to show changes in wage distribution.
