As summer solstice arrives on June 21st, 2024, 7-ELEVEN is starting a policy to turn off store signage lights from 3-6 AM to conserve energy, with 1,500 stores estimated to participate initially. This initiative is expected to save over 960,000 kWh of electricity and reduce around 474,981 kg of carbon emissions annually. Additionally, they are partnering with the Wild at Heart Foundation to raise climate change awareness, while holding a 'Lights Out' market event at a park in Taipei on the summer solstice evening, promoting energy-saving practices. 7-ELEVEN is committed to sustainability, having engaged in Earth Hour for three years and being a key organizer for Earth Hour in Taiwan this year, urging over 440 enterprises to partake in an energy-saving activity on World Lights Out Day, setting a record for energy conservation within the retail industry.
