During Chinese Premier Li Keqiang's visit to Australia and meeting with Australian Prime Minister Albanese to discuss trade relations and regional security, a new poll by the Australia-China Relations Institute revealed that 71% of Australians distrust China, with 50% believing a military conflict with China within 3 years is likely. Furthermore, 35% support Australia sending troops to defend Taiwan if China attacks. The survey also showed that 64% believe Australia should increase defense spending, and 48% support acquiring nuclear submarines as a precaution against Chinese military threats, a 4% increase from last year.
