On June 24, 2024, a group of people went to play in the water in Kenting but tragically experienced a drowning incident. Among the 6 males and 3 females was a 22-year-old American Indian foreign student surnamed Luo from Tsinghua University, who lost vital signs. Luo, known for his outstanding academic performance and pursuing a master's degree, was highly esteemed by his peers. The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. on the previous day, with two individuals suspected to have been carried away by an undercurrent. Despite life-saving efforts, Luo was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.
