A brand-new F-35B Lightning II fighter jet, a test model transferred from Lockheed Martin to the US military, crashed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, leaving the pilot seriously injured. The incident occurred during takeoff, and the pilot was transported to a hospital in stable condition. Lockheed Martin stated that the aircraft was US government-owned, and equipped with TR-2 software while en route for further testing and upgrades. This is the second F-35B mishap in less than a year, highlighting challenges in the F-35 program's operational capabilities and costs.
