A trailer traveling on the southbound lane of National Highway 1 in Taiwan was struck by lightning near the 354.3-kilometer mark close to the Nanzi Road section on July 8th, resulting in a flat tire and coming to a stop on the shoulder. Highway police responded to the incident the following day, stating that the driver was lucky to have narrowly escaped a second mishap. Scholars explain that the driver was fortunate as the lightning charge passed through the tire into the road surface, avoiding harm to the driver. Maintenance reminders for vehicles were subsequently highlighted by the highway police to prevent accidents.
