AAA predicts that nearly 44 million American travelers will embark on trips for Memorial Day weekend, marking the second highest travel forecast since 2000. This estimate includes 3.51 million air travelers, a 4.8% increase from last year and a 9% rise from 2019. Additionally, nearly two million people are expected to travel by other modes such as buses, cruise ships, and trains, showing a 5.6% increase compared to 2023. Travelers are advised to plan for potential traffic congestion and longer travel times, with the cost of oil remaining a wildcard due to ongoing global conflicts.
