The largest dental chain in Taiwan, 'Abc Dental Alliance,' allegedly hired 13 secret doctors, siphoning over 40 million NT dollars in insurance fees. Investigations revealed violations of the Physician's Act, with non-medical staff performing medical procedures and using titles such as 'doctor.' The founders and top executives, including Shieh Shang-ting, known as the 'Dental Godfather' in southern Taiwan, are implicated in scamming over 26,000 patients and falsifying insurance claims. The Kaohsiung Health Bureau received complaints in 2019 and conducted raids, subsequently fining the violators and referring the case to prosecutors. The group's statement mentioned that they ceased training overseas doctors due to legal uncertainties and pledged full cooperation with the ongoing legal proceedings.
