Absence in 'Party Assets Act' Vote Draws Criticism for Minor Blues, Ko Wen-je: There Will Always Be Compromise Solution in Committee Discussion

Reported about 1 year ago

Ko Wen-je, the chairman of the People's Party, was criticized for the absence of all 8 People's Party legislators during the parliamentary vote on the amendment to the 'Act Governing Political Parties' Acquisition of Assets'. The amendment, proposed by Kuomintang legislators to save the China Youth Corps from being bound by the Party Assets Act, was approved for committee review after winning the vote 52 to 49 in yesterday's session. Ko Wen-je mentioned a need for compromise between completely freeing the China Youth Corps from the Act and annihilation as suggested by the Democratic Progressive Party, emphasizing the importance of discussing such matters in the committee. Ko attended a ceremony today and addressed the issue, highlighting the party's independence and proactivity in decision-making.
