Accident Mortality Rate Ranks 8th in 'Top Ten Causes of Death'! Mortality Rates Across All Age Groups Have Decreased Compared to 10 Years Ago

The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced the 'Statistics of Causes of Death in 112th Year' on June 17, 2024. In the year 112, there were 7,063 deaths due to accidents, ranking 8th among causes of death for Taiwanese citizens. The mortality rates in all age groups have decreased compared to 10 years ago, with the highest being 87.9 per 100,000 people for those aged 65 and above, and the lowest being 10.3 per 100,000 people for those aged 0-24. Transport accidents accounted for 43.4% of accident-related deaths in 112th year. Male deaths due to accidents were 4,921 (69.7%) while female deaths were 2,142 (30.3%) in the same year.
