Acer clarifies not re-entering mobile market, focusing on brand licensing instead

During a speech at the Industrial Development Bureau on July 17, Acer Chairman Jason Chen clarified that Acer is not planning to re-enter the mobile market, but rather is licensing the Acer brand to an Indian company for the production of smartphones. This move is seen as part of Acer's strategic shift towards brand licensing to increase market share in the face of tough competition in the PC market, where companies like HP have been successful through brand licensing. Chen emphasized that brand licensing is a mature industry abroad and may lead to additional opportunities in the future.
