Administration and DPP caucus to seek constitutional interpretation on parliamentary reform bills, Lai Ching-te also evaluating

Reported 10 months ago

On June 21, 2024, the legislature voted against the re-consideration proposals for the amendments to the 'Legislative Yuan Exercise of Powers Act' and the 'Criminal Code of the Republic of China' presented by the Executive Yuan. In response to this outcome, both the Executive Yuan and the DPP caucus in the legislature expressed intentions to request a constitutional interpretation. President Lai Ching-te will also carefully evaluate whether to seek a constitutional interpretation after receiving the consultation. The rejection of the parliamentary reform re-consideration proposals has led to plans for constitutional interpretations by the Executive Yuan, DPP caucus, and the Presidential Office.
