Agriculture Department Proposes Subsidies for Culling Old Hens Due to Egg Surplus

Reported about 1 year ago

Due to reasons such as an egg surplus, egg prices have quickly dropped to a nearly 2-year low of 27.5 yuan per half kilogram at the production site. The Agriculture Department plans to subsidize the culling of low-productivity old hens, aiming to eliminate 500,000 hens per month for two months to maintain egg production at around 12 million annually. The department will also coordinate with slaughterhouses to increase slaughtering capacity. Additionally, if breeding farms are willing to cull breeding hens early, the department will provide assistance.
