Agriculture Minister Chen Chunji announced plans to cultivate around 300 plant doctors annually to assist farmers in precise pesticide application once the Plant Doctor Act is passed. The legislation aims to provide a national exam system to train plant doctors to help farmers cope with the increasing diversity of plant diseases and pests due to climate change, with the goal of stabilizing crop production and reducing reliance on chemical agriculture. Plant doctors would offer customized guidance in the fields to achieve these objectives, with no plans for public-funded plant doctors at the moment.
