Agriculture: the Culprit Behind 40% Increase in Nitrous Oxide Emissions Over 40 Years

Reported 7 months ago

According to a new study, nitrous oxide emissions have increased by 40% over the past 40 years up to 2020, with agriculture being one of the main culprits. Experts emphasize the urgent need to reduce these emissions as there is currently no technology to remove nitrous oxide from the atmosphere. Nitrous oxide, a potent greenhouse gas primarily originating from agricultural activities, has a warming effect on the Earth's atmosphere over 300 times that of carbon dioxide. Researchers express concern that human efforts to curb nitrous oxide emissions have been insufficient, highlighting the necessity to take more active measures in order to mitigate climate change impacts.
