As Syria's civil war enters its 14th year, millions of internally displaced Syrians, like Rudaina al-Salim, are struggling to access basic necessities such as water, food, and health care in rebel-held northwestern Syria due to a lack of aid. With U.N. agencies and humanitarian organizations facing budget cuts and global attention focused on other conflicts, there are fears of further aid reductions as donors prepare for a fundraising conference in Brussels for Syria. The U.N. World Food Program has seen a significant decrease in aid provision from assisting 5.5 million to just 1.5 million people in Syria. The upcoming conference aims to secure over $4 billion in aid to support Syrians in need, both within the country and in neighboring nations like Turkey, Lebanon, and Jordan.
