As remote work became popular during the pandemic and inflation forced many to leave expensive California, Silicon Valley once quiet saw a resurgence with the rise of AI startups. This led to a new culture of coding day and night, making nap pods in offices a hot commodity again. An AI startup, Exa Labs, inadvertently sparked interest in nap pods by ordering two and ending up with over 100 orders, showing the return of the Silicon Valley startup culture. Even though opinions on nap pods vary among engineers, the all-night coding culture has returned, especially in Hayes Valley, also known as 'Cerebral Valley,' with young engineers convening to write code relentlessly.
