Nvidia's market value surged to a record high on Tuesday, rising 6% and nearing Apple's valuation by about $100 billion in a potential reshuffle of Wall Street's top companies. With its shares trading at $1,128, Nvidia's market capitalization reached $2.8 trillion, compared to Apple's $2.9 trillion. This increase came after Nvidia forecasted strong second-quarter revenue and announced a stock split, leading its stock to surge 8% to $1,149.39 during the session. Apple's stock declined slightly in afternoon trading. Nvidia's shares have more than doubled this year, benefiting from the AI boom and a five-fold revenue jump in its data center segment.
