In an incident reported by Minsheng Daily on June 18, 2024 at 1:59 am, officers from the New Taipei City Jinshan Police Station Traffic Division apprehended a drunk driver using an AI patrol system installed on their patrol motorcycle. The system detected abnormality in the vehicle license plate, leading to the discovery of the offender. The individual was later found to have exceeded the legal alcohol limit and was arrested on the spot. The introduction of the AI patrol system by the New Taipei City Police Department has significantly improved patrol efficiency, automatically scanning surrounding vehicles and issuing alerts upon detecting irregularities, increasing effectiveness compared to manual checks. The police station urged the public to refrain from drunk driving, emphasizing the dangers and legal consequences, and encouraging alternative transport options for those drinking at social gatherings.
