Alert / African Swine Fever Virus Positive Found in Drifting Pig Carcass on Kinmen Island, First Case this Year

According to the Central Disaster Response Center, a drifting pig carcass was found on the coast of Qingqi Port in Lieyu Township on June 22, testing positive for African swine fever virus nucleic acid today. The carcass was immediately sampled, disinfected, and then incinerated on the spot. Surrounding areas within a 10-kilometer radius, including 13 pig farms, were inspected with all pigs showing no abnormal signs. As a preventative measure, the Ministry of Agriculture has issued a temporary ban on the export of pig and related products from Kinmen to Taiwan and other islands until July 1, excluding certain approved producers.
