Taiwan's Central Weather Bureau has issued an alert for heavy rain, warning of the likelihood of localized heavy or torrential rain today in specific areas like Chiayi County, New Taipei City, Taichung, Kaohsiung mountainous regions, as well as Yunlin, Chiayi, Nantou, and Tainan. Residents are advised to be cautious of lightning, strong gusts, potential landslides, and falling rocks. The alert was lifted at 7:30 PM as the rainfall eased, reducing the risk of heavy rain. The bureau noted that the intense convective activity could bring thunder, lightning, heavy rain, strong gusts, and even hail, posing risks to outdoor activities and road safety, with potential flooding in poorly drained areas and landslide and rockfall threats in mountainous regions.
