On June 30, 2024, at 10:25 AM, as part of the 26th anniversary celebration of Public Television Service Taiwan, a special screening of the 8K ultra-high-definition documentary 'Forest of the Divine Trees: An Expedition on the Ali Mountain Forest Railway,' jointly produced with NHK Japan, took place at the National Taiwan Film Archive square, attracting over two thousand spectators to experience the stunning 8K visual quality. The documentary captures the charm of the over-century-old world-famous Ali Mountain Forest Railway, showcasing its cultural significance and the collaboration between Taiwan and Japan in preserving heritage. Notably, the documentary features historical footage of an elderly man selling boxed meals during the Japanese colonial era unearthed by the third-generation owner of an Ali Mountain boxed meal store in the research process. With scenes like a wedding under a thousand-year-old sacred tree and the efforts of locals to revive community landmarks, the documentary offers a poignant journey along the railway line. Additionally, renowned musician Kiyoshi Yoshida composed the music, including the theme song 'Ali Mountain,' blending elements of Zou tribal ancient music, creating a nostalgic and immersive experience for viewers. Taiwanese actress Kwai Lun-Mei provided the Mandarin voiceover, expressing her emotional connection to the railway and the memories it evokes.
