The Ali Mountain Forest Railway mainline collapsed due to Typhoon Morakot in 2009 and suffered damages from Typhoon Dujuan, leading to a 15-year restoration effort. The railway is set to reopen on July 1, revealing breathtaking views of the previously closed sections in a cross-border collaboration documentary filmed in 8K ultra-high definition quality by Public Television and NHK. The production team faced challenges in capturing the unique engineering techniques along the railway line, including the Independent Mountain Spiral Loop construction method and the difficult Z-shaped track switch design. Utilizing drone photography and overcoming technical challenges of 8K cameras, the documentary aims to provide viewers with an immersive experience of Ali Mountain's forest scenery.
