Allegations of CCP Infiltration in Taiwanese Political Talk Shows Leads to Confrontation Between Lawmakers

Reported 8 months ago

It was reported on June 25, 2024, that Chinese Communist Party (CCP) official media were involved in the production of political talk shows in Taiwan. Allegations were made that a certain TV station's talk show had significant input from a Xinhua News Agency reporter in Taiwan, even going as far as to directly monitor the studio. The Mainland Affairs Council confirmed this. During a press conference held by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Kuomintang lawmaker Chen Yu-chen was accused by DPP lawmaker Wu Si-yao of monitoring the event, leading to a heated argument lasting 20 minutes. The TV station in question denied the allegations, stating they were baseless. The National Communications Commission (NCC) is investigating the matter. The incident involves implications of Chinese commercial interests influencing the show production in exchange for favorable content.
