On July 8, 2024, FTNN News reported that former Taoyuan Mayor Zheng Wen-Can was suspected of involvement in a land development corruption case during his tenure, allegedly receiving a bribe of 5 million NTD. The Prosecutor's Office detained him on charges of accepting bribes, with Taoyuan District Court granting bail at 5 million NTD and restricting his movements. However, suspicions arose that Zheng had not declared the bribe in his asset declaration, in violation of the law. Former Taoyuan City Council candidate Xie Ke-Yang filed a report with the Control Yuan, pointing out discrepancies in Zheng's declared assets and the amount of the alleged bribe he received.
