Amazon approves Taiwan data center, CSP top three all in! Battle begins

Reported about 1 year ago

On June 12, 2024, Amazon, the world's largest cloud services provider (CSP), gave the green light for a Taiwan data center investment, set to launch the AWS infrastructure region 'AWS Asia Pacific (Taipei) Region' in early next year. This move not only serves global businesses but also targets Taiwan's public sector, healthcare, finance, and other highly regulated industries, sparking a fierce cloud services battle in Taiwan with Microsoft Azure's data center expected to be completed this year. Simultaneously, Google Cloud will hold the Google Cloud Summit Taipei event today, announcing a pioneering AI medical research collaboration with Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare, as competition intensifies among the three major CSP players AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud following AWS's establishment in Taiwan. Google was the first to set foot in Taiwan and has been welcomed by the local government for its data center and research facilities, securing many data-reliant businesses in Taiwan.
