On July 4, 2024, the Australian government announced a strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to build a 'Top Secret Cloud' system for storing sensitive information for Australia's defense and intelligence units to enhance international intelligence cooperation. Over the next 10 years, Australia plans to invest approximately $2 billion (around NT$65 billion) in this system created by AWS, aiming to strengthen information sharing mechanisms and boost defense capabilities. The Top Secret Cloud system will serve as the core of the 'Red Chilli' intelligence project, covering key areas like resilience, efficiency, defense, space, intelligence, network, and empowerers, improving big data analysis and prediction capabilities. AWS, known for its global cloud computing services, will also invest in constructing three data centers in Australia to enhance intelligence sharing with allies like the United States.
