Amazon is set to launch a revamped AI-powered version of its Alexa voice assistant later this year, with plans to charge a monthly subscription fee to cover technology costs, as reported by CNBC. The subscription for Alexa's enhanced services will not be included in Amazon's Prime membership. The company has been working on a generative AI-powered Alexa version to compete with rivals like OpenAI and Google. Amidst advancements by competitors like OpenAI's GPT-4o and Google's Gemini chatbot, Amazon aims to leverage its Titan large language model for the Alexa upgrade. Apple is also reportedly planning an AI overhaul for its Siri virtual assistant.
