Amazon is planning a major revamp of its Alexa service, introducing a conversational generative AI named 'Remarkable Alexa,' with two tiers of service, including a superior paid version that may cost between $5 to $10 per month. The project, internally known as 'Banyan,' aims to revitalize the unprofitable service that has faced competition in the AI market. Amazon's CEO Andy Jassy has set a deadline for August to prepare the revamped Alexa, promising a 'more intelligent and capable' assistant. The company's efforts also include enhancing home automation capabilities and integrating premium features for tasks like composing emails and ordering food, but challenges like false starts in AI development and employee morale issues have been reported.
