On June 28, 2024, in Budai, Chiayi, an ambulance collided with a car on Highway 61 in Dongshi Township, resulting in the ambulance falling into a fish pond with 2 paramedics inside. The paramedics climbed out of the vehicle through the window onto the roof, where they awaited rescue and were eventually saved. Fortunately, their injuries were minor. The car involved did not yield to the ambulance, and both the female driver and male passenger of the car were injured. Investigations are ongoing regarding the cause of the accident.
