AMD has struck a multi-year agreement to supply AI chips to OpenAI, potentially generating tens of billions in annual revenue. As part of the deal, OpenAI can acquire a 10% stake in AMD. Following the announcement, AMD's shares rose over 34%, representing the firm's largest one-day gain in nearly a decade, with expectations to meet OpenAI's substantial infrastructure needs.
