AMD Set to Acquire ZT Systems for $4.9 Billion to Boost AI Hardware Capabilities

AMD has announced its plan to acquire server manufacturer ZT Systems for $4.9 billion as part of its effort to enhance its portfolio of AI chips and hardware amidst rising competition from Nvidia. The acquisition will be financed with 75% cash and the remainder in stock. With this move, AMD aims to integrate ZT Systems' engineering expertise to accelerate the development and distribution of AI graphics processing units at the scale required by major cloud service providers. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2025.
