Amedisys and UnitedHealth Group have agreed to extend the deadline for their $3.3 billion merger due to a legal challenge from the U.S. Department of Justice aimed at blocking the deal. Originally expected to complete this week, the new deadline is now set for 10 days after a federal court ruling or December 31, 2025, whichever comes first. This extension includes a potential breakup fee ranging from $275 million to $325 million if required divestitures are not made by May 1.
