A dispute arose among parents of students at an American school in Kaohsiung, Taiwan when one parent claimed credit for arranging a meeting with Mayor Chen Chi-mai after the school faced difficulties due to the pandemic. The parent was sued by another parent for defamation after referring to them as a 'pathetic joker' in a group chat. The court ruled that the parent must pay a fine of 30,000 NT dollars for damaging the other parent's reputation.
