American Express outperformed Wall Street revenue expectations thanks to increased consumer spending during the holiday season, driven by travel and online shopping. In Q4, revenue rose 9% to $17.18 billion, with billed business up 8% to $408.4 billion. The company's focus on higher-income consumers helped mitigate economic uncertainties, and it anticipates further profit growth in 2025.
