Brazilian airline Gol's parent company has engaged in talks with competitor Azul to explore potential opportunities, following speculation about a merger. Gol, which had filed for bankruptcy protection, is controlled by Abra Group, created in 2022 to combine Gol and Avianca. The airlines recently announced a codeshare agreement, fueling merger rumors. Gol plans to evaluate financing proposals for its bankruptcy exit, while Azul is independently discussing with Abra. Gol and Azul are the second and third largest airlines in Brazil, respectively.
