The May Consumer Price Index (CPI) remained unchanged from April's figures, with shelter, food, and autos being the three key sectors impacted. Despite shelter seeing a 0.4% monthly gain, economists suggest disinflation is underway with a yearly projection of 4.9%. Food inflation increased 2.1% year over year, with dining out costs rising 0.4%. However, auto prices are showing relief with new and used vehicle prices down year over year. While auto insurance is still up 20.3% annually, a marginal decrease from April indicates a moderation in the sector.
