Analyzing the Chinese Communist Party's Influence Warfare: Deconstructing Strategies of Opinion Manipulation

Reported about 1 year ago

Influence warfare is a strategic action that aims to change the attitudes, emotions, beliefs, and behaviors of target audiences to achieve specific goals. Malicious actors often use social media platforms to spread misinformation, manipulate public opinion, and even disrupt government operations. The impact of influence warfare is intensifying due to the fierce competition between authoritarian and democratic countries in a geopolitically complex environment. Examining the CCP's strategies in Taiwan and international opinion manipulation, their objectives include weakening Taiwanese unity and swaying international perspectives on Taiwan through distortion of facts to achieve their political goal of annexing Taiwan. The CCP actively uses social media to launch 'three warfare' attacks by spreading false information, conducting cyberwarfare, and spreading rumors to confuse audiences. Additionally, they leverage state propaganda to intensify cognitive warfare, dividing and influencing the psychological and behavioral tendencies of the Taiwanese people. Furthermore, the CCP manipulates international media platforms through various methods to create a favorable international opinion environment and solidify its global position and political interests. To effectively counter these threats and challenges, countries need to strengthen international promotion of national sovereignty and development rights, enhance societal defense resilience, raise media literacy among the public, and bolster international cooperation to resist CCP's infiltration tactics and psychological warfare, safeguarding stability and freedom in democratic societies.
