Anglo and Codelco Partner to Increase Copper Production in Chile

Reported 2 days ago

Anglo American Plc and Chile's Codelco have signed an agreement to collaboratively enhance copper production from their neighboring mines in the Santiago region, aiming for an additional output of 120,000 metric tons annually. This partnership, which builds on the mining industry's need to reduce costs while improving yields, seeks to leverage existing processing capacities without substantial new investments. Both companies anticipate significant benefits, including a shared value increase of at least $5 billion, though the production boost is not expected until 2030 due to necessary approvals and further discussions.
