On June 21, 2024, the Legislative Yuan rejected the reconsideration proposal introduced by the Executive Yuan for amendments to certain articles of the 'Legislative Functions Act' and the 'Criminal Code.' The rejection resulted in a win for the Blue-White camp with 62 votes in favor against 51 votes opposing, indicating the failure of the reconsideration. Despite tensions between the blue and green lawmakers over the voting process, the Speaker of the Legislative Yuan, Han Kuo-yu, participating in the voting did not violate neutrality according to past practices. Following the failed reconsideration, Premier Su Tseng-chang expressed the intention to seek a constitutional interpretation after the laws come into effect for stability in constitutional order.
