On June 21, 2024, at 5:37 am, after the party caucus meeting, People First Party Chairman Ko Wen-je and Legislator Huang Kuo-chang were interviewed. During his term as Taipei mayor, Ko Wen-je persisted in organizing the Dual-City Forum despite the council's resolution, leaving behind an unpaid 1.07 million debt. Members of the Green Camp have questioned this and demanded that Mayor Chiang hold Ko accountable. Former Taipei Deputy Mayor Huang Shan-shan pointed out that the resolution indicated that if cross-strait tensions arose, the forum should be suspended; however, Huang emphasized that the forum has facilitated city-to-city exchanges for over a decade without political implications. She criticized the current tensions in the Taiwan Strait, questioning the necessity for such standards and whether Chiang Wan-an should participate. Huang stressed that the forum does not compromise Taiwan's interests but fosters cross-strait communication to reduce misunderstandings, urging equal treatment between Ko and Chiang. Ko's wife, Chen Pei-chi, echoed similar sentiments, indicating their willingness to clear Ko's dues if necessary but advocating against dual standards by the mayor and council.
